STRENGTHENING THE CASE FOR AN EXTENSION OF THE REDUCED VAT RATE

As part of the UK Hospitality Group, Hospitality Ulster want to thank you for supporting our efforts in getting Government to commit to a permanent reduced rate of VAT for hospitality and tourism.

There has been a great response so far to the Deloitte survey, which will be used to better inform the Treasury of the impact that a reduced rate of VAT has had for our industry and our recovery.

The provisional results were presented to Treasury officials on Wednesday and they were extremely interested in the data; particularly those shedding light on specific sub-sectors and regions in NI and across the UK.

At the Treasury’s request, we are undertaking one last push to maximise the number of responses.

To boost take-up, we are kindly asking for your help once again to share the survey with your contacts, urging those who are yet to complete it to please do so.

The deadline, of which we have extended, is 5pm Wednesday 23rd February.

To view the survey offline, an excel version is available to download (CLICK HERE), however submissions must be made using the online form (CLICK HERE).

There is also a digital lobbying campaign (CLICK HERE) which you can support by asking businesses to write to their MP and share the materials provided in their venues and online using the hashtag #VATsEnough. Supporters of their local hospitality business can also support the campaign by sending a postcard (CLICK HERE).

This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get the reduced rate extended, so we thank you again for your ongoing support on behalf of the sector.

Finally, we also ask that you if possible you please share this UKH Benchmarking Survey (CLICK HERE), which remains open and is a also huge asset in contributing towards our collective efforts.

Kind regards,

The Hospitality Ulster Team
