Belfast City Council are carrying out a consultation to gather views on a proposed permanent pavement café licensing scheme. Please take a moment to ensure your views are heard on an important aspect of our hospitality offering.

WHAT
The consultation opened on Friday 6 October and will run until Thursday 30th November 2023, with the aim of gathering any positive or negative experiences of pavement cafés since the temporary licensing scheme commenced, and to gain a better knowledge of what the public think of a permanent pavement café licensing scheme in general including:
- Associated fees
- Duration of a pavement café licence
- Standard Licence Conditions
- BCC Guidance (location, layout, accessibility requirements)
- Enforcement
Alongside the public consultation BCC has also created an additional tailored survey aimed at pavement café operators who already have a licence under the current temporary scheme, or have applied for one, to gather specific feedback from this group about the proposed permanent scheme.
There is also a tailored survey for operators who have not yet applied for a pavement cafe licence.
