UK BUDGET - CRISIS RESPONSE GROUP TO BE ESTABLISHED
04 November 2024
The UK Government’s budget has caused a crisis on a scale never before seen in our industry.
In response, Hospitality Ulster has established a Crisis Response Group made up of industry representatives and supported by BDO NI Managing Partner Brian Murphy, MTB Solicitors Senior Partner Colin Mitchell and UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls, ensuring the group has the support of financial, tax and legal specialists alongside UKH.
The devastating announcements in the UK Budget will heap significant costs on an already overtaxed and struggling industry, and it is now vital to consider every possible means to make our voice heard and secure the support needed.
The Government’s core mission of economic growth is understandable but treating hospitality as collateral damage whilst trying to balance the books will threaten not only employment, but the very existence of businesses in our sector and the future of our tourism offer.
Hospitality Ulster has also requested urgent meetings with the First and deputy First Ministers, and the Minister for the Economy to lay bare the reality of your situation.
To that end, we are urgently seeking data on the consequences of the UK Budget announcement to your business.
The real-life data you provide is a vital tool in making the case for our industry.
Thank you.
