HU WELCOMES PUBLICATION OF GUIDANCE FOR REOPENING OF SECTOR IN NI
23 June 2020
Hospitality Ulster has welcomed the publication of the guidance on reopening from the Economy Minister Diane Dodds this evening which will provide clarity to the sector on working safely as the worst impacts of the covid-19 crisis subsides.
Chief Executive, Colin Neill has commended Minister Dodds stating that she has been “a champion for our industry and its survival.”
Hospitality Ulster, in partnership with UK Hospitality and NI Hotels Federation has worked to summarise the detailed guidance to provide practical guidelines for hospitality businesses in Northern Ireland.
Chief Executive, Hospitality Ulster, Colin Neill said this evening:
“The publication of the guidance is good news in the sense that it allows those parts of our industry that can reopen on the 3rd July, to make preparations for reopening.”
“The entire industry has been dealt the biggest body blow for a generation and for many business owners it has swept the feet from under them. We are now hopefully emerging from that extremely difficult period.”
“We fear that many have not be able to survive the financial impact of the pandemic, and that others are not going to be commercially viable, but we need to get at it and open and get customers back. Our sector is far too important to the local economy and the social fabric of Northern Ireland and we will need our politicians to do all they can to maintain support.”
“This is not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination, this is only the beginning of a really precarious situation where we will see redundancies and closures, but we need to work hard, collectively, to mitigate against the worst impacts after coming through so much.”
