Hospitality Ulster is the trading name of the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade Northern Ireland (FRLT).

The organisation’s origins date back to 1872, when the Belfast and Ulster Licensed Vintners Association was first established to represent the interests of licensed premises across the region.

As the licensed trade evolved, the Association was later reconstituted as the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade (FRLT), reflecting its growing remit and membership base across Northern Ireland.

FRLT operates as a not-for-profit association under its constitution.

It is governed by a Board of industry representatives drawn from all parts of the province and representing the full breadth of the hospitality and licensed trade sector.

This governance structure ensures that the organisation remains industry-led, member-focused, and reflective of the diverse needs of pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, and other licensed businesses.

Today, under the trading name Hospitality Ulster, the organisation continues its long-standing role as the voice of the hospitality industry, providing advocacy, support, and representation to its members across Northern Ireland.
