Colin Neill, Chief Executive of Pubs of Ulster said:

It was disappointing and a blow for the industry when Kurkova went into administration, however the pubs it owned are premium pubs and it is encouraging to hear that offers have been made and these pubs will once again be invested in and jobs will continue.

Although trading is tough for many pub owners, we are encouraged by recent statistics from Neilsen that show things are starting to move in the right direction with a growth of 3% in the number of pubs trading this year. Pubs are re-opening and investment is being made.

It is important to remember that the pub industry is a key economic driver and its health and vitality are crucial in the sustainability of our economy as a whole. We will continue to assist our members where possible in ensuring their survival.
