Derry - Londonderry Networking Event and Masterclass in March

Businesses in Derry - Londonderry can attend a free customer service masterclass this month, as part of People 1st's �Through the Door' series. Speakers from Liverpool will be sharing their experiences of being involved in the European Capital of Culture, 2008.

The event, taking place at 10.30am on Wednesday 30 March 2011 at The Millenium Forum, includes presentations from: - Neil Peterson: General Manager: International and Commercial, Liverpool City Council. In 2008, when Liverpool was European Capital of Culture, Neil was Head of International Relations and The Liverpool Welcome Programme. The �08 Welcome Programme� was established to ensure that Liverpool capitalised on the economic benefits available. This included innovative training programmes, together with a programme of Volunteering to engage and involve local people. As leader of the International Relations team, he was responsible for developing a strong European dimension to the Capital of Culture programme. Neil will share a number of case studies that he and his team are currently developing from 2008 to capture and share the lessons learned. - Dee Keeley: Group Human Resources Manager, Centre Island. Centre Island, own, operate and manage a portfolio of hotels. Dee will share her experiences from Liverpool 08 and what local businesses can do to prepare for and benefit from Derry being UK City of Culture in 2013. - Nikki McQuillan: Streat Franchising Ltd. In 1999 Nikki and her husband Michael opened their first Streat Caf� in Belfast. Their vision was to develop the Streat as the best known and most successful caf� concept to come out of Ireland. They set out to achieve this by focusing on some core business disciplines, namely the importance of customer, brand and excellent people. Ten years on, the Streat is one of Ireland�s best known caf� brands and has recently been acquired by the Henderson Group. Nikki will share her thoughts on her 5 business success factors � Customers are King, Focus on Costs, Train Train Train, People Focus and Work Life Balance.
