Statement for the Ulster Herald

Statement for Ulster Herald 9th April 2010 Andrew Bogan, Tyrone Vice Chairman of the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade (FRLT) and owner of Bogans Bar Omagh said: The safety and wellbeing of customers is of paramount importance to all FRLT members. The FRLT urges not only its members but all publicans and customers to be aware of the possible risks on a night out and to be vigilant with their drinks, making sure not to leave any drink unattended. As well as publicans, all staff, including door supervisors, have a duty of care to all customers and any failure to do so is a matter of concern. All door supervisors in Northern Ireland are required to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is essential that all licensees who offer a door supervisory service ensure that their door staff are licensed and fully trained to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all patrons. We would encourage customers to always alert a member of staff if any issues or problems arise as it is the establishments responsibility to act in the best interest of the customer. ENDS
