Pubs of Ulster has joined forces with Sunday Life to find out who is the toast of the trade when it comes to local bar staff.

As part of Pubs of Ulster’s annual search to find the best in the business, Sunday Life is asking readers to make their nominations for Northern Ireland’s Best Barperson 2014, helping them to identify local pub heroes.

Commenting on the launch of the search for NI’s Best Barperson, Martin Breen, editor,  Sunday Life said: When it comes to bar staff, a colourful personality can really make a pub stand out and makes going out even more enjoyable.

“We are asking our readers to let us know of the best barperson they know; those that really add to the pub experience. As well as being crowned Barperson of the Year and have their pub featured in Sunday Life.”

The Best Barperson 2014 will win a Pub of the Year Award plaque, a commemorative Sunday Life front page and feature in the newspaper.

Mark Stewart, chairman of Pubs of Ulster, said:  “The Pub of the Year Awards celebrate all that’s great about our local pub industry and the awards are hotly contested each year.  We have some of the best pubs in the world right on our doorstep and many of our great Barpeople within these pubs help to create the warm welcome Northern Ireland is so famous for.

“Our Best Barperson of the Year Award in association with Sunday Life is the only category that is open to a public vote, so we would encourage pubgoers across Northern Ireland to support their local pubs and nominate their favourite local barperson, giving them a chance to be celebrated on a national stage.”

Nominations for the Best Barperson award can be sent by email tobestbarperson@sundaylife.co.uk or by post to Sunday Life Best Barperson, The Sunday Life, 124 Royal Ave, Belfast BT1 1EB up until Tuesday 26th August 2014. Nominations should include a brief background on the nominee and why they should win. The six people with the most email votes will make the final.* Pick up a copy of the Sunday Life for further information.
