New Fire Safety Regulations Briefing

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service will be running a series of information days to educate and inform the local business community on the new Fire Safety Regulations which will be coming into force on November 15th.

As of the 15th of November Fire Certificates issued under the Fire Services NI Order 1984 will cease to have effect. The new system will be Risk-Assessment based, with the onus on the owner/employer or person having control of the premises to carry out the Risk Assessment. Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service will be the enforcing authority for this legislation and will be implementing a process of auditing Risk Assessments following the change. The timetable for the information days is as follows: 22nd November, Ballymena North Centre 23rd November, Lodge Hotel, Coleraine 24th November, Glengormley Fire Station 26 November, Cookstown Fire Station 30th November, Lisburn Fire Station 30 November, Enniskillen Fire Station 02 December, Southern Area Headquarters, Thomas Street, Portadown 03 December, Omagh Fire Station 06 December, Newry Fire Station 07 December, Crescent Link Fire Station, Londonderry 08 December, Dufferin Room, Downshire Hospital, Downpatrick 09 December, Bangor Fire Station 09 December, Fire & Rescue Service Training Centre, 79 Boucher Crescent, Belfast 10 December, Fire & Rescue Service Training Centre, 79 Boucher Crescent, Belfast The format of the days will be a 20 minute presentation given hourly (11am - 3pm) followed by a 40 minute question and answer session.
