Session details:

Delivering quality apprenticeships in hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism

Apprenticeships are a critical development pathway in our industries.  They allow you to develop staff to meet the needs of your business and industry.  Yet the role they play, and the impact they have in addressing businesses’ skills needs, is under debate.  People 1st would like to hear your views on how apprenticeships can best meet the needs of businesses, learners and the industry, to help inform a revised apprenticeship strategy for hospitality, and new strategies for travel and passenger transport.

Accreditation scheme and conversion project

During this session, People 1st will tell you about an accreditation scheme we are currently piloting in England, which awards good practice and excellence in the delivery of training and qualifications.  People 1st would like your views on how a similar scheme could be introduced in Northern Ireland.

You will also hear about a project that will see 600 people from other industries retrain for hard-to-fill roles in our industries by March 2014, through fast-track training programmes and qualifications.  People 1st would like to get your views on the occupations we are focusing on, how the programme will work and whether you would like to be involved.

People 1st is the sector skills council for the hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism industries focusing on transforming skills in the sector through the development of world class qualifications in management and leadership, customer service and craft skills.  For more information, click HERE
