Help us to tell your story and save your pub!
The ongoing delay in reopening traditional ‘non-food’ pubs in Northern Ireland is a catastrophic blow for families, businesses, staff and local communities that depend on your pub for a living and social interaction.
We know the financial pressures and uncertainty you face are immense and getting worse by the day, with the CJRS (furlough scheme) now requiring employer contribution and mounting bills adding even more pressure to a dire situation.
Our Traditional pubs are already facing the agony of mass job losses as they are forced to make staff redundant- and if there is a 3rd postponement beyond the 1st September, they face the very real prospect of never reopening their doors.
The Northern Ireland Executive has a moral duty to protect the lives of everyone.
But if our traditional pubs are not allowed to reopen before / by the 1st September; if they are asked to make such a ‘sacrifice’ for the good of everyone by remaining closed, the Northern Ireland Executive also has a moral duty to provide financial support until they are allowed to reopen.
Whilst the health of everyone must lead our scientists and decision makers, our traditional pubs are being asked to make a huge sacrifice for the good of wider society, and we feel that their story should be told.
The #SAVEOURPUBS campaign aims to do just that, showing the real people and real sacrifice behind the cost of leaving your shutters down and your doors locked since early March.
Hospitality Ulster wants to tell the story of the owners, their families and their staff, with pictures outside their closed premises, along with information about the business, its history, its staff and the wider community it serves.
These photos and stories will form a grassroots media campaign aiming to highlight the real plight of these businesses, urging the Northern Ireland Executive to step in and #SAVEOURPUBS.
