CEO Statement On Minimum Pricing

Colin Neill, Chief Executive, Hospitality Ulster commented on the ruling by the Court of Session in Edinburgh to pave the way for the Scottish Government to implement its policy on bringing forward a minimum price for alcohol.

“We welcome this ruling today in Scotland and are keen to see the same policy implemented here in Northern Ireland. There is now nothing to stop the Northern Ireland Assembly taking this action and we call on the Health Minister Michelle O’Neill to start the process to make this a reality. This will go a significant way to address problem drinking at home in Northern Ireland and make the ability to buy large amount of cheap alcohol a thing of the past.”
